Wow .. SXSW was off the chain .. Busy Busy Busy, but The Beatards and Miz Metro crushed it – IF your in Miami this week for WMC, make sure you check out DJ Questlove on the 1’s and 2’s. He will be DJ’n a private party on Friday night from 2- 5 AM in the Arts District for Maseo (from De La Soul’s) B Day Party. Than Friday night he will be along side the one and only Giles Peterson from BBC Radio at the Delano Hotel for a Giant Step Production.  Than Sunday night he throws down along side P Diddy at Fontainbleau. Don’t Sleep !!!

For the New York City trio THE BEATARDS, mixing elements of electro, hip-hop, punk, pop and world music comes naturally. The NEW single “Don’t Step on My Sneakers”  which can be purchased on iTunes world wide, charted #1 on multiple college radio hip hop charts over the past few months.

The B-side “Get Lite”—which will appear on their debut album in spring 2010—is an uplifting anthem for the youth and the young at heart. Over a heavy hip-hop beat that sounds like it fell from outer-space, the infectious lyrics stress positivity in the face of adversity, embracing the misfit that rises above judgmental haters. This song is a universal call to rise above it all.

The Video was directed by up and coming director Philly K and produced by Andrew Bly of the Molecule. Produced on a shoe string budget, the Beatards give nothing less than an epic performance, targeted towards the youth and new generation. Filled with bouncing bunny’s, skaters, BMX Kids, Brooklyn Dance Crews, and sky high flying gymnasts on trampolines, The Beatards relate to the youth of today and their need to rise above it all and just “Get Lite”

On Wednesday March 10, 2010, The Beatards will be performing at The Beauty Bar NYC in celebration of the Video Release.

Growing up with the DJ’s mentality of mashing and remixing everything, the traditional boundaries of genre don’t hold much weight in THE BEATARDS world.  A multi-ethnic trio composed of UTK the INC, CHUCK WILD and DJO—each of Indian, Jewish and Korean decent, respectively—together they write, produce, mix and arrange all of their own music.

Working totally independently without support from a record label, THE BEATARDS have had over 20 of their songs licensed to multiple shows on MTV and HBO including “Entourage,” “The Real World Cancun,” “The City,” “Parental Control,”  “Road Rules” and “Styl’d.” The group also just released an exclusive track for the popular clothing brand Upper Playground which has been featured on the brand’s web site for a month and are working with other independent and major brands such as PUMA, Red Bull, Sparks, AMP, Mishka and 10 Deep.  Their party-rocking performance reputation has helped them share the stage with notables such as Santigold, Spank Rock, Shwayze, LMFAO, Kid Cudi, Mix Master Mike, Mayer Hawthorne, Kudu and DJ Class to name a few.

The three friends initially came together through their innovative “live remix” party Mixtape Riot!, which they still host monthly in downtown NYC.  Since then, they have released two mixtapes, Endless Dummer (August 2007) and Blast Off (April 2009), as well as the Big Bad Beat EP (October 2008).  Their upcoming first length LP  “WorldWide” is due out June 2010 –

IF there was one word to describe Miz Metro it’s: UNLIMITED. Hailing from New York City, raised in Manhattan Miz Metro grew up playing street ball & scatting in street corner ciphers. She acquired the name from her homemade door-knocker earrings made from NYC Metro cards, which have become her staple style item, a testament to her unique and quirky personality.

With her  well crafted lyrics and unconventional soulful pop sound Miz Metro has created a sound and style all her own. This Weekend February 19 – 21 Los Angeles welcomes HEMP CON to the Convention Convention Center in Downtown LA. http://hempcon.com. On Saturday February 20th, Step Up World in Conjunction with Klub Kush, Booky Entertainment, and Bad Habits will be producing the official Hemp Con After Party in Downtown LA – This will be an after hours events / $10 B4 1 AM. Event will go to 5 AM – DJ Green Lantern will be on the wheelz of steel Don’t Sleep !

HempCon is a medical marijuana show catering to those who may be benefited from the medical use of marijuana. This will be one of the premiere events of the year with a huge amount of exhibits including medical marijuana dispensaries, collectives, care givers, evaluation services, legal services, educational institutes, equipment, accessories, and many more. HempCon will be an educational event as well with a full weekend of seminars and presentations by industry leaders, advocates, and attorneys. Whether you are a patient or someone who wants to get educated more about medical marijuana, you have got to be there.

For 2010, we are scheduled to have two shows with one in Los Angeles happening February 19-21 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and the second one in San Francisco from August 6-8 at the San Mateo Event center.
